| Let's roll out the clichés for possibly the most iconic sports car of all time. 911 a legend that's evolved over five decades of production. Everything you've ever read about its abilities is probably true. It offers three bodies (coupe, cabriolet and targa with a huge glass sunroof), three engines and a four-wheel drive option. There'' something for everyone; or rather something for everyone who can afford it. The ultimate 911 remains the incredibly quick Turbo, with firmer suspension to handle the extra power. Previous 911s were criticised for quirky handling, but you don't need to be a racing driver to keep the modern cars on the road. The levels of grip are phenomenal, and 911 a safe car to drive con brio. In the cabin, the driving position is excellent but the rear seats pretty well useless for adults. Running costs, especially servicing and insurance, are high but depreciation is low. |
